Readers Choice Most Popular Christian Books

Last week I asked you to help me write a post by providing the answer to this question: What are your favorite Christian books? Thanks for providing some great resources!

Tony Alicea

I have a ton of faves but the book that has made the biggest impact on me recently is “Experiencing Father’s Embrace” by Jack Frost. It is about understanding the love of the Father and identifying root issues of our relationship with our own father’s that cause us to misunderstand God’s love. This book rocked my world!

Michael Perkins

Anne Jackson’s Permission to Speak Freely. I just finished the book in two sittings. It touched me because it helped show me how liberating it is to just let things go.

Craig Groeschel’s Confessions of A Pastor. I know it is a little older, but it truly touched me. Craig shows how its okay to be in ministry and not have it all figured out.

Marshall Jones Jr.

Out of the Saltshaker and into the World by Rebecca Manley Pippert

I recommend it because, unlike others I’ve read on the topic, it emphasizes a sustainable and mature approach to sharing Jesus, one that’s centered on understanding and helping others instead of just broadcasting information. While it certainly gives the “how-to” of evangelism, the personal stories are the real reason to pick up the book. Nothing new, just the encouragement to following-through with what we already know.

No problem on the links. Thanks for helping with the post.

You caused me to verbally say "What?" You haven't heard of Celebration of Discipline? It's a pretty good classic. I think it used to be in my library. I like Richard Foster's book on prayer also.

In the Presence of God-A Book of Truth by David W. Stevens, Phd

This book is unique in that it teaches you how to have more effective prayer time and how to participate in Christ-centered meditation in such simple steps anyone can do them. But the author also shares the promises given him during his personal worship time as a witness of God’s power and peace. They are really wisdom lessons that help us understand how things we do separate us from our Father and how to close the gap. Loved it!

Sorry for the late reply. It sounds like a really great book. I am always interested in having a more meaningful prayer life and drawing closer to God.

      I’ll check out the site.

      Thanks!

Eternity in Their Hearts is a great book. Contains many stories of people groups in many lands that had creation stories and the like in their mythologies way before Christian missionaries.

I have that book on my shelf but haven’t read it yet. It was required reading at the Bible college I went to.

I’ll have to pick it up soon and give it a try.

PS:It is my wife’s book, that explains why I haven’t read it.

      Thanks for sharing Joshua!

      You are most welcome.

Don Richardson’s other books are also great reads if you are interested in missions and how God has created people with a longing for Him.
