Where Christian Men Find a Mentor

Where Christian Men Find a Mentor

Jesus shared his earthly life with 12 men.  3 of those men were his closest of friends.  He poured his life into them.  He showed them how to be real men.  Having good mentors can accelerate our growth to spiritual toughness.

Where To Find A Mentor

Okay, so having a mentor is a great idea but where in the world do we find another person who will be willing to pour their time and energy into our life?  I can think of at least three places.

Great Cloud Of Witnesses

In the 11th chapter of Hebrews the author mentions a lot of people that we find in the Old Testament.  Some of the people he mentions are Able, Enoch, Noah, Abraham, Isaac, Jacob, and Moses.  For those of us who run this Christian race, these are our great cloud of witnesses.  They become our mentors when we mimic their godly lives.

Christian Authors

Have you read any good Christian books lately?  I’m not talking about The Shack either.  We can learn a lot of wisdom from dead Christian authors.  Authors like A.W. Tozer and Dietrich Bonhoeffer are some of my favorites.

Our Shepherds

If you belong to a good church then I can promise you that their are mature Christian men who would be willing to show you how to be spiritually tough.  Start asking God to lead you to the right mentor for you.  Because God cares about your spiritual growth, He will answer your prayer.

What other tips can you give us men on where/how to find a mentor?

This is one area I've slacked off in lately. I read a lot, so there's no shortage there. My father's always been an excellent source of wisdom too. Also, I have at least a few deep friendships with men I trust.

That said, I don't have a good mentor in the classic sense. I need to establish someone in my life who's significantly older and more experienced than I am who is willing to interact with me on a regular basis. It's tough for me because I know I'll need to contribute back. It's not enough to just take… and finding the extra time to do all that is tricky.

Thank you for the reminder, though.

    P. S. I haven't been by here since I first saw this launch. I'm glad I saw it on Facebook again, though. I like it.
